Miami is an incredible city. Whether you’re planning to stay within the city (and beaches) for a few days, or you’re visiting as part of a larger trip, there are so many things to see and do that you’ll never get bored. One of the best ways to see the city is to rent a car in Miami. This will give you the freedom to go and do whatever you like- without needing to rely on public transport.

Here are a few of the best things to do in Miami:

Check out the Vizcaya Museum

This is the number-one attraction in Miami, and the Italian renaissance villa is located in the middle of lush Coconut Grove. The gardens are also well worth a wander, and there are 43 acres waiting to be explored. If you’re lucky, you’ll be visiting during one of the many events thrown at Vizcaya every year. From arts and crafts to jazz parties, waterfront yoga, and more, there are plenty of fun things to do here.

Hit the Ball & Chain

If you like to salsa, you’ll love this bar. It was established in the 1930s, and has been visited by musical legends like Chet Baker, Count Basie, and Billie Holiday.

Visit on Tuesday nights for free salsa lessons, or bring a group of girls from 8-10pm on Wednesdays for free drinks and karaoke. The mojitos here are excellent, and there are plenty of free things to see and do throughout the week.

Stroll around Wynwood

Wyndwood was once an industrial neighborhood, and it quickly rose to fame as the place to go for street art and graffiti. Now, you can find everything from great bars to galleries, restaurants, and boutiques here. The Wynwood Walls are a must-see and include 40 murals from some of the best street artists in the world. You can drive around the area, there are lots of car rental in Miami so you do not need to worry where to find one.

Head to South Beach

No trip to Miami is complete if you haven’t spent time in South Beach. This is the place to go for everything from partying to shopping, and the nightlife, food, and Art Deco architecture will keep you busy for days. Be sure to schedule in some beach time.

Visit the Everglades

You can easily get to the Everglades from Miami, particularly if you’ve hired a car. There are 1.5 million acres of sub-tropical jungles and swamps here, and you’ll be able to learn all about the endangered species, like the Florida Panther and American Crocodile.
